If you are interested the processing/treatment done was as follows (in Photoshop):
- 100% saturation, 100% contrast, +4 EV in the PS Camera RAW window
- Channels adjustment-layer (33% for each channel, monochrome)
- Levels adjustment-layer (black a 1/3 to the right, white a 1/3 to the left, grey as is)
The photo was taken into a mirror in my bathroom under a naked 60w tungsten bulb.
(Thanks to Raemarie and drp for the title.)
Cool
Interesting
Who is this person who also is your new icon?
good treatment
Photochiel, that is me.
Paul, you’re so gritty. That treatment rocks.
haha, in my 25 years on Earth I have never been called gritty before. Ugly, fat, cute (far too many times), sweet (ditto), sexy (far too few), a dork and plain, but never gritty. Thanks Raemarie!
You look so different from your last icon. Or maybe I didn’t look so good ; (
Very interesting – and good!
Take a while to get used to the icon/avatar.
"You’re so gritty
"Oh so gritty…..aaaaaa………."
;-D
It is pretty different, Photochiel. You can see the shot my previous icon came from.
And quite right, kwo, I often stumble for a few days when a regular (to me) Flickrite changes their icon. This is only my second icon and I won’t be changing it for a long while.
Ooo, Paul Watson on Whiteground. Love it.
This is quite nice.
Personally I cannot believe that the previous shot of you has been viewed 1376 times! No offence like.
I like this photo, and the technique works really well. Have you tried it on anything less animate?
Wow, Paul! I love this.
Cute subject matter….
We will have to start calling you the "white knight."
Great man…
I see it now, Paul. It’s the haircut.
It’s gritty : )
Kaddy, that previous shot got linked on a high-traffic website (The Code Project) once. That is why it got so many hits, nothing to do with artistic merit. I haven’t tried the treatment on anything else yet.
Wow, cool pic and I think I like the icon Paul, less rugged and more grit…catchy phrase "gritty", pertinent in a way with the career change: Paul you’ve got grit!
very interesting and nice!
Lookin’ really good!!!
the White Knight!! LOL at drp
Paul, this is a superbly "alienated" selfportrait of yours. Love the lightness and sharp light at the same time, which really give a unique feeling to it. Thanks for sharing the procedure with us
the White Knight, oh my. Thanks for the grin, drp. Glad you like it Luna and thanks to all for the comments.
Whoaaaah! Stunning end result!
ROFL at Photochiel though.
But that’s only true for the icon.
I agree that the icon is different now. At first I thought: "what a cool pic of young Bill Gates", but knowing that you are coding too, you might be offended.
Wonderful image! Thanks for explaining how you got the effects. I like both avatars!
love it, & thanx fo rthe info Paul.
Ooooh, not sure I like being compared with a young Bill Gates, Ocharovashka.
Calling me Bill Gates would offend me too. Especially if you think of the mug shot the cops took of him some thirty years ago.
See?! I knew you wouldn’t! How would?!
Let’s apply those effects on that pic of Bill from N Mex then.
Speechlees… for both you and the technique. You are always a welcome surprise, white knight. I love that.
I think its time for you to release your first music album! What an excellent cover it would be!!! Go on, create the grit genre!
Very cool.
great self portrait
I’m gonna play around and try something like this, quite inspiring.
