Old Decaying Building Glen Rose, Texas

My wife has been wanting to photograph this building for several years now. We took her on a drive for Mother’s day and this was one of the first stops.
Processed with Dan Margulis’ Picture Postcard Photoshop workflow.
Steps:
1. RGB curves in color blend to fix color casts.
1.5 Blended R channel to B. and applied s-curves to R and G.
2. Applied false 1.6 Gamma RGB profile
3. Converted to Dan’s fake Black CMYK profile and adjusted the K channel.
4. converted LAB and did a multiply layer with a L channel layer mask.
5. Did an overlay with the original L channel at 75%. Decreased the overlay layer to 60%.
6. Sharpened.

I have borrowed it because the mix of colours and tones made for a good example to use some free photoshop actions on. It’s for a tutorial on rescuing so-so pictures by deliberately squishing the reality out of them.
The original was not a so-so picture – it just happened to have the elements I wanted to create a young cool street picture.
