My wife has been wanting to photograph this building for several years now. We took her on a drive for Mother’s day and this was one of the first stops.
Processed with Dan Margulis’ Picture Postcard Photoshop workflow.
Steps:
1. RGB curves in color blend to fix color casts.
1.5 Blended R channel to B. and applied s-curves to R and G.
2. Applied false 1.6 Gamma RGB profile
3. Converted to Dan’s fake Black CMYK profile and adjusted the K channel.
4. converted LAB and did a multiply layer with a L channel layer mask.
5. Did an overlay with the original L channel at 75%. Decreased the overlay layer to 60%.
6. Sharpened.

Tour of the outside of an abandoned apartment building in Salton City. This is one of many abandoned buildings along the Salton Sea.
The Salton Sea was once a popular place for boating, swimming, fishing, etc., but an increase in the salt level of the water caused large numbers of fish to die and the water became foul. This, in addition to a couple of hurricanes in the 1970’s, caused the communities surrounding the sea to deteriorate.
