urban life

I tried to imitate the Lomo image quality, but also the concept in terms of subject, as it’s used a lot by the low-budget, young, urban, “in” crowd. This is a flower growing on the wall of the Loretto Church in Chiado in Lisbon, pointed to me by a co-worker who passes by it everyday. In terms of the image treatment, I did the following:
* Whole image
o Adjusted the levels to clip the highlights slightly
o Lowered the saturation
o Shifted the color cast a little into the yellow
o Blurred it very slightly
* On the edges only (new layer with a mask)
o Darkened it to simulate the Lomo lens’ vignetting
o Blurred it more with Gaussian blur
o Distorted it with the Glass effect to simulate the Lomo lens’ edge astigmatism

Darkness Within

Either that or "Souls are Overrated", but I may save that title for a future photo. This is actually an older shot, hence the poor quality and small size. Today I randomly decided to do this to it. It was pretty quick, so I’m not sure I love the result. Believe it or not, but all I did to my eye is increase saturation and contrast.
If you have any suggestions on how I could improve the photo, title, or technique, fire away. Oh yeah, does anyone have a link to that "on black" tool?

Taken on the Antrim Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland, with a Nikon D80 and then converted in photoshop to give a green tint, vignette and grainy effect.
Phield of sFears

A Good Friend, Lizard911, placed a texture up for use and I had to snag it for something.
Then came a Screaming Image from the same friend……
Mix it all up and you get a screaming, decaying runaway maniac in a field of spheres, or a phield of sFears.
Creepy, but hey, Halloween is sooooo terribly near…….

Bizzare

An enoumous tire from some construction machine. But of course theres been a tad bit of retouching. Thanks to my favorite program of all time… -Photoshop. Now of course I still beleive one should only capture beauty, to an extent. But this, this is just cool.

These images were created for a project where i had to scan objects and then edit them in photoshop. These images had to do with consumerism, sneaker & t shirt culture, urban style and how these objects are monumentalized. The edits had to do with a deconstruction of these highly constructed monuments.

brighton, united kingdom.
comprised of 10 portrait shots (hand held) stitched together in hugin.
tone mapped in photomatix.
curves & saturation adjusted in photoshop.
this has been my first attempt at producing a panoramic shot of this scale, and my first time using hugin.
im really happy with how this has turned out. am also
really impressed with this program, and cant wait to be making more. watch this space:)!
resolution of this image is very large, so may be hard to view it in detail on flickr. but its available to download under a non commercial creative commons license if any one wishes to study it under closer inspection. i would recommend viewing this as LARGE as possible.

View On Black
Another installation at the Singapore Biennale. Used the Urban Acid action here again. This one is a video by Aktan Abdykalykov from Kyrgyzstan, which is shown on the TV in the room above.
It’s three short films made in the mid-1990s, and were shot on film and transferred to video. The title of one of the films is also the title for this photo.

A dark self portrait I created in Photoshop using some actions, and gritty effect, and a black and white treatment. I have been experimenting with some new effects in Photoshop and this is the best so far. I really need to go out and find some new models that are a little easier on the eyes the the subject of 021 in my 365 series.
You’re so gritty, White Knight

If you are interested the processing/treatment done was as follows (in Photoshop):
- 100% saturation, 100% contrast, +4 EV in the PS Camera RAW window
- Channels adjustment-layer (33% for each channel, monochrome)
- Levels adjustment-layer (black a 1/3 to the right, white a 1/3 to the left, grey as is)
The photo was taken into a mirror in my bathroom under a naked 60w tungsten bulb.
(Thanks to Raemarie and drp for the title.)
The Bomb Goes BOOM!

It’s halloween, I’m in an orange mood. I’m a bit somber. This is both, somewhat morbid and quite orange as you can see.
What I Did:
o Color Edit on Nuclear blast
o Removed junk from the blast
o Creative blurring for the streaks
o Avatar Pasting
o More color correction
o Lots of filters I don’t remember
o Creative Burn/Dodge
o Pen tool fun
o Layer properties fun
